We Are Here!

So, we got to Destin around 10:30 a.m. this morning. We stopped in the parking lot of Destin Commons to figure out what we were going to do first. It was decided that since Kelly and Jeremy could get into their condo right away we'd drive to Fort Walton so they could do just that.

We had to stop at The Crab Trap for them to get their keys because the property management company that takes care of the condo they use is located there. There are some really cool shops at The Crab Trap. We browsed through those and let the kids play on the playground some. It was good to be out of the car and walking around.

Kelly and Jeremy's condo was a couple miles from there. We helped them grab as much stuff as possible for the first trip up in the elevator. When we got on the elevator a young girl got on with us. The door to the elevator had not even closed yet when the girl fainted. When I first looked at her I noticed a weird look in her eyes. Kelly and MIL said they saw her drop her phone, but I did not see that.

I saw her looking at my daughter really weird and then all of a sudden she was slumped on top of Michaela. She was OUT! We all got off the elevator and eased her down to a sitting position trying to get her to wake up. Her feet were constricted towards her body and we couldn't get her to come out of it for several minutes. She finally coughed like she was going to throw up and we got a small response from her, but could tell she was still very out of it.

We got the guy at the desk to call 911. We kept telling him we needed some water or ice or something to try and cool her off. He handed us a half drunk bottle of water, but would not move from his spot. We were able to get the girl's condo # out of her and told the guy at the desk but he would not call up there. So, Jeremy went up in the elevator to tell her parents what was going on. She was able to tell us that she is 18. She tried to make a call on her cellphone, but could not focus on the numbers.

The paramedics came and started talking to her and asking her questions like we did about her name, age, etc. She said she'd fainted once before a couple years ago. I think she may have had a seizure, too because of the way her muscles had constricted. Her dad and brother got down there just a few moments after the paramedics got there. I'm so glad that we were in the elevator with her. Lord knows what would have happened if she'd been on that elevator alone.

After all the excitement we finally went up to Kelly and Jeremy's condo. It's very nice. It's got one bedroom with the bunks in the hall. They have two bathrooms. One of the bathrooms has this huge shower in it. I want a shower like that in our house. Around noon Michael, the kids and I headed to MIL and FIL's condo. They are staying in the same one they stayed in last year.

Michael helped FIL get all their stuff upstairs to their condo. We hung out a few minutes and then they went with us to help us find where our condo is since they know Destin better than we do. It takes about 1/2 an hour to drive from their condo to ours because of traffic down here.

When we got here we went to the office and got parking permits. Then, it was time to unload. Our complex is not a high rise like Kelly and Jeremy's or MIL and FIL's. It's only two stories. We are on the bottom, just a couple doors down from the swimming pool which is on the small side, but still very nice.

I'm very happy with our condo. It's very nice and well kept. The washer and dryer are not actually in the condo, but they are not far, just a few doors down in the opposite direction of the pool. We are pretty conveniently located in the complex. It is furnished nicely, too.

Kelly and Jeremy decided they'd had enough night and day and opted to stay at their condo the rest of the evening. We were going to do the same, but Michael's mom talked him into us coming over to their condo for supper. So, we headed over there after we got everything unpacked.

We just had sandwiches, fruit, chips, etc. for supper. But, none of us had had lunch, so at that point anything would have tasted good. I enjoyed the meal especially the company. After we ate we went down to the beach for a walk.

There have been a lot of storms out at sea lately so the sea weed and algae have come in. That's a little disappointing. Since algae is here so are Jelly Fish. They eat the algae and have followed it. The ones that are here are small Sea Nettles. They can sting, but not badly. If you put ammonia on a sting it'll go away right away. Otherwise, it takes about 20 minutes for it to go away. I'm sure that's different if someone has an allergic reaction to it.

We saw some jelly fish and got pictures of them. Michael was having a blast jumping around in the water trying to get a really good picture of it. He ended up getting wet. It was fun to watch him.

Michaela found an itty bitty baby crab, too. I did not know they were THAT small as babies. It was kind of cute, for a crab. Although, I'm sure there's not much meat in those legs yet. I love crab legs.

We also saw these little pearl looking things that we assume are baby jelly fish along the beach. They were just small little clear dots. We looked at them, but avoided them, just in case.

We left MIL and FIL around 7:30 or so to go to Walmart. We needed to do some grocery shopping. We ended up getting breakfast stuff, some drinks, lunch meat and deli salads, and other assorted snack type stuff. I'm sure we'll have to go back a few times, but that was good enough for now.

By the time we got back and put everything away we were all very tired. We were all asleep by 9:30 pm. It felt so good to lay down in a bed and be able to completely relax.
